Bridges of Königsberg

The ’seven bridges of Königsberg’ is a historically important problem in mathematics which brings us back to 1736, the time of Leonhard Euler. The problem can be considered as the foundation of graph theory.

During the workshop we will solve this historically important problem, which originally was answered by Leonhard Euler, one of the most famous mathematicians. We will discover the foundation of graph theory, which is the study of mathematical objects used to model pairwise relations. Graph theory and graphs are useful in computer science, physics, chemistry, biology, social sciences, linguistics, etc.

Why participate?

  • You will learn about
    • One of the historically really important problem
    • Leonhard Euler, one of the gratest mathematicians in history
    • The basics of graph theory
  • The workshop develops, teaches
    • Problem-solving skills
    • Logical thinking
    • Getting a feeling for mathematical proofs
    • Applicable in multiple ways especially in our modern world
  • Developing interest in math
  • Overcoming math anxiety
  • Gain confidence in mathematics
  • Connect people with similar interest
  • Have fun :-)

To whom?

The workshop can be interesting to children (we suggest from the age 11 on), to adults and also to families.

No mathematical preknowledge is required.
