Adult workshops
2026/27 I. Semester
You are invited to join our workshops and enjoy these exciting mathematical activities!
"...math has important implications for the real world as well as being a beautiful pure academic subject of itself....there is lots of fun in math and you don’t have to be a brilliant research mathematician to be able to discover the fun in math and to be able to see some of the beauty and the enjoyment in math."
-James Maynard (Fields Medal laureate), interview with Numberphile (2023)
Who are these workshops for?
- are curious about mathematics and would like to discover its beauty, creativity, and hidden connections;
- enjoy hands-on activities, puzzles, and problem-solving challenges;
- have always been interested in mathematics but never had the opportunity to explore it further;
- want to discover the fascinating mathematical ideas that their children are exploring in the Junior Math Club;
- have difficult memories from school mathematics and would like to rebuild a more positive relationship with the subject;
- enjoy meeting like-minded people and share ideas;
- simply want to spend an enjoyable time learning and discovering something new.

Platonic solids (regular polyhedra) are fascinating three-dimensional shapes with interesting properties. These unique shapes have captured the interest of mathematicians for centuries. They are named after the Greek philosopher Plato, who associated them with the classical elements of nature.
During the workshop, we will discuss what regular polygons are and what we know about their angles. We will try constructing the ones that can be made with a compass and a straightedge. We will also dive into the world of Platonic solids, explore Euler’s formula and the Schläfli symbol, and at the end of the workshop, you will even have the opportunity to build your own.
