The Mayan Number System

The Mayan civilization was one of the most advanced civilizations of the ancient world. The calendar and the calculations related to it, were really important to the Mayan people. They used a vegisimal (base 20) positional number system and the numerals were constructed of only three symbols.

During the workshop we will take a short journey to the world of the Mayan culture. Our focus will be on discovering how to read and write Mayan numerals.
