Geometry by Folding

Classical geometry began with the work of the ancient Greek mathematician Euclid. Using only an unmarked straightedge and a compass, geometers explored what could (and could not) be constructed, laying the foundations of geometry that are still studied today.

During the workshop, we will explore classical geometric constructions and tackle some of the greatest challenges of Ancient Greek mathematics. We will investigate what can be constructed, and discover the surprising role that paper folding can play. Finally, we will explore regular polygons and create our own hexaflexagons.
